Wedding Trends for 2012

Being in the Wedding business can be fun, but there are lots of new trends to stay on top of. One of the new trends that I am really excited about brings me back to my own wedding many (28) years ago. It was a custom in the Pittsburgh area to have a cookie table at the reception. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins and friends all contributed a few dozen of their specialties that were the favorites of the Bride and Groom. This was always a highlight at the reception to sample some of the different delightful cookies that were made with love for the new couple. Some cookies only made their appearance and weddings and special occasions such as ladylocks and nut tassies.

One of the Trends for 2012 is the Dessert Table. This is a display of some elegant desserts that will tempt your guests. It often is taking the place of having a Wedding Cake altogether. This updated Trend may have a selection of colorful macaroons, mini cheesecakes and tarts and a variety of specialty cookies. It offers a selection that will have something that will appeal to every guest. It is hard to envision a Wedding Reception without the Bride and Groom cutting the cake, so maybe a small tier cake can be the centerpiece of the Dessert Table.  Either way, I think the 2012 Trend of a Dessert Table will add a wonderful variety for guests to enjoy!

  1. Dessert tables are a great way for a bride and groom to go as extravagant or as frugal as they want to. Love the blog! ;)

  2. Went there for an evening event. After arrival we were immediately greeted with appetizers and cocktails in the room with the fireplace and baby grand piano.

  3. Informative post!! Good to know about these wedding trends. Have been planning my niece’s wedding at one of New York wedding venues and looking for a reputed wedding planner, who will make best arrangements for the day.
